EDI's Consultants have wide range of sectoral, technical and functional skills and experiences and have proven track records in supporting public, civil society, private and international donor clients in developing, implementing and evaluating development interventions throughout Tanzania . EDI's Funds Management Unit (FMU) develops and manages grant-making programmes and other grant-funded initiatives on behalf of international donors. In Tanzania , it is currently managing DFID's Research into Use Challenge Fund Programme and the Swiss Development Cooperation's, Traditional Knowledge for Health Fund. The FMU has in place robust grants management systems and processes that are adaptable to be able to meet the specific needs of each type of fund it manages. EDI has proven application and selection processes, grants management training programmes for grantees with high emphasis on financial compliance, and has well developed disbursement, liquidation, monitoring and reporting systems that are in line with the requirements of international donors and meet with International Financial Reporting Standards.

EDI's Improvement Support Unit (ISU) provides services and solutions targeted at improving the relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of organisational structures, policies, systems and processes. Experience has included the review and revision of Tanzanian Public Service Legislation, reengineering of Public Service Human Resource Management systems, procedures and tools and reengineering of Foundation for Civil Society grants management policies, systems and procedures.

EDI's Evaluation Unit (EU) has been involved with numerous audit, evaluation and impact assessment studies in Tanzania . From undertaking the Country Level Evaluation of European Commission funding to Tanzania , Evaluation of the US$6m Public Sector Performance Improvement Fund, to being recruited every two years to carry out the impact assessments and grantee audits on behalf of the Foundation for Civil Society, EDI has now visited and assessed over 250 civil society organisations in Tanzania .
